musings of a love radar
i sit surreptitiously,
picking up vague radiations.
tossing infatuation aside, i hone in
on an unmistakable blue glow.
they bask in it, trapped
in a bubble of incandescent bliss.
instinctively aware of the undercurrent
hinting at something more, something - too much,
they push it to the backs of their minds, terrified.
but love is like energy.
it cannot be destroyed
no matter how hard
you try
to deny its existence.
i can sense it, feel it, know it, the way
others can see the sun's light and feel its warmth.
sparks fly from the instinctive friction of hearts
that recognise each other
and a steady, brisk fire ensues.
i watch them, knowing -
love takes courage.
a green light flashes.
someone presses the button on my side and
reads the report silently.
yours truly
