your silence
you wear your silence
wrapped around you
like a shroud; a
weather-beaten raincoat worn
too thin around your shoulders.
crouching over,
you keep the patters of
incessant giggling
from staining you like
carelessly spilt icecream.
cement fills your mouth,
reassuringly heavier than
the wisps of cold grey
you walk in.
the stone on your chest
barely rises with each breath.
it is white and plain, with
a single inscription;
your name.
yours truly
